The South Ethiopia Police Department was established in 1995 to serve the growing population of the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples Region. Over the years, we have evolved into a modern law enforcement agency equipped with the latest technology and training methodologies. Our jurisdiction covers over 10 major cities and 50+ towns across the region, serving a population of more than 15 million people. We operate with a community-centric approach, believing that public safety is a shared responsibility between law enforcement and the communities we serve.
The guiding principles that define who we are and how we serve
To protect life and property, prevent and detect crime, and enforce laws fairly and impartially while maintaining public trust and ensuring community safety through proactive partnership and professional service.
To be a leading police service in Africa, recognized for excellence in community policing, innovative crime prevention, and building safer communities where all citizens can thrive without fear..
Integrity, Courage, Professionalism, Compassion, Accountability, and Respect - these values guide every action we take and every decision we make.
